Kids online: Art Afternoons

Wild Learning is exploring new spaces to deliver art programs in the community - and so now is the perfect opportunity to launch KIDS ONLINE: ART AFTERNOONS.

Once a week kids can join us online via zoom from anywhere in Australia for an afternoon session of drawing and art at home!

Each week Emmie will demonstrate two art works in a live online lesson that kids can follow along with from home using their favourite art supplies.

It's a fun and relaxed way to get some art making in your afterschool time from the comfort and convenience of home!

Super easy - Log on and set the kids up with a snack, some paper and some colouring in supplies and they will enjoy an hour of guided creative time- no need to travel to classes and sign up is per household so it's an affordable activities siblings can enjoy together.

About Wild Learning:

Based in the Hunter Valley NSW, Emmie and Wild Learning have been teaching art to children and families for 9 years both face to face and online. Emmie has delivered 100s of hours of online art experiences for young people and is highly skilled at making creative skills accessible for home based learning and enjoyment - and making art classes fun and interactive! Your kids will love turning up with their snack and paper each week ready to relax, learn, experience and create! Our classes always offer a mixture of both practical skills development + encouraging students to find their unique voice, style and expression. This is NOT just about learning to copy something off the screen, it's about developing a love of exploring art making.

Classes are suitable for:

  • These classes are suitable for primary school students aged 6 years old and over
  • Children who enjoy learning to draw and following along with guided art activities
  • Great for kids who are creative but get bored or frustrated without a little direction or support

Materials required:

  • Drawing paper or an art journal - A4 size
  • Lead pencil, rubber and sharpener
  • Art supplies for adding colour - for example pencils, markers, crayons, pastels or paints (one or two types is plenty, we encourage you to use what you have on hand)
  • You will need a device with internet access and the ability to watch a Zoom call - and a camera so children can hold up their work for the show and tell section of the class

How it works:

  • Students will log into the private zoom classroom from a link sent through email - they will be able to see two screens, one with the teachers face so they can interact and see them talking, and a second camera is above the art table so students can watch the project being demonstrated.
  • Each lesson begins and ends with check in, where kids should be on camera for a minute. We begin with a welcome to greet each other and end with a show off session to celebrate what we have made!
  • Students can follow the demonstration and make their own version of the drawings and artworks at their own level and style

  • For the very first lesson students should have a grown up help with them to learn the routine of how an online class works
  • From the second lesson onwards students are welcome to participate independently if you prefer
  • Students are able to ask questions and get feedback or support if they wish during the class
  • Classes are NOT recorded for child protection reasons, so we will not be sending replays for missed lessons - But you will get a picture of the artworks after class so kids can have a go at copying for themselves or practising again.
  • At the end of the term students will get a printable certificate
